A few things. First, it's scorching hot in San Francisco and I love it. It's official, we've hit triple digits. It's currently 101.9 degrees Farenheit (38.83 degrees Celcius for my international readers) in my beautiful little foggy city. Fog?? What fog!? However, it is fleeting seeing as how the heatwave will be over come Wednesday :[ poop!
I put my blog on hold. I've been chillaxing in the heat and saying goodbye to a dear friend who is moving back to New York. I knew summer was over for me once she had to go back to New York *sigh* Love you Ej, I always miss you.. You know that. We gathered together to have a "family" dinner at Jocelyn's house (Thomas, you were missing!) I made clams in white wine sauce while Ej made bruschetta.. Jocelyn made bbq chicken wings , pasta salad, and corn. Jocelyn's dad gave me some fruit cocktail with almond jello too. We don't mess around i'm telling you.
Yesterday I was at the Asian Market of all Asian markets (Ranch 99!) picking up some live clams when I spotted DRAON FRUIT IMPORTED FROM VIETNAM!!!! You guys have no idea how stoked I am to see this dam thing finally. I haven't eaten it since 2004 (when I was in Vietnam).
I would take each & every single last one home if I could
Dragon fruit isn't insanely sweet or anything like that. To be honest, its taste is very subtle. It has a faint hint of sweetness, and its flesh is more like a hybrid of a kiwi/watermelon. The seeds are edible and crunchy, almost like little black sesame seeds (without sesame flavor of course).
A lot of people say it doesn't have any flavor. I appreciate its subtle taste. Dragon fruit are actually pretty high in fiber, antioxidants, calcium, phosphorous, and vitamin C. They also help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. The seeds contain good fatty acids. *shrugs* All good news on that end! They're so tasty when they are super cold , eating them on hot humid days like today ... MmMmmm I can't wait to go buy more and eat them.
Sorry, it seems as though all my posts are about food huh? I'm going to go back to having "beauty" related posts once my 30 Day Challenge is over. I know it's getting kind of boring, sorry!
Day 16: Something I Could Live Without
My life has been pretty dam drama free since cutting key people out of my life. I love it that way and will do all I can to keep it that way. Seriously, if you're constantly stressing over bullshit.. You might want to re-think the people you're around or the way you're handling obstacles that come at you. Either the people around you are toxic and you need to re-organize that, or acquire better skills to handle life. It's an everlasting challenge and each day we learn more and more.
Day 17: Someone You Would Want To Switch Lives w/ For One Day & Why
Before any of you judge (stfu, I know somebody out there is! hahaha) think about it. She has millions upon millions just for being born (dammit). She comes and goes as she pleases (hahaha uhhmm..yeah). And although much of us could live without her ever having existed, I do admit she markets herself very well. (Minus the sex tape..because i'm sure we could all live without that too. By the way, i've never seen it nor do I care to watch it). I just think it'd be nice to wake up one morning and say "hm. today, I feel like some corn from Cafe Habana and shopping in SoHo. Let me just hop into my private jet..." or "hm. I could really go for some macaroons and espresso. Off to Paris!"
Day 18: Plans/Dreams Goals You Have
find a job in Southern California
relocate myself in Southern California
keep on traveling the globe.
Day 19: Nicknames You Have & How or Why You Have Them
Susy is actually a nickname. I've been going by it for nearly 12 years. When I meet people, many have a hard time remembering my real name or they think it's something else (huh? JOANNA? -_- )
I just go by SUSY and the most confusion I ever get is the occasional "Oh, nice to meet you Judy!"
I acquired the name Susyness sometime ago when I was 17 or 18. I used to go clubbing a lot, then eventually was working in the clubbing industry. Someone decided to dub me "The Susyness." It stuck for awhile, but once I fell out of that scene, it disappeared. I decided to resurrect it for blogger & twitter however, one of my gorgeous friends (Amandababe!) decided to call me Susyness as well. Coincidence? Maybe.
