always check your makeup

If you follow me on Twitter then you'd know that I went shopping last weekend. I picked up 2 blushes from from the MAC counter at Bloomingdale's and they did me wrong... Oh boy did they do me wrong...

I got the MAC Mineralize Blush Duo in Bi Tone from the Too Fabulous collection (limited edition). I did manage to cop the last one so if you were at Bloomies last saturday in SF and tried to get it a the MAC counter but it was sold out - yup, i'm the bitch that got it.

it's a gorgeous pink and coppery gold and since it's a mineral blush, the sheen just gives you a natural glow. I've been using this on the daily since purchase.
The other blush I've been meaning to pick up for quite some time but never got around to it. I actually don't go shopping very often but when I do, I tend to buy things in bulk. So the other blush I got was Warm Soul.
THEY SOLD ME A USED ONE.
I am convinced it is used. When I had gotten to my friend Ronnie's house, we were so excited to go over our purchases. I inspected mine and the package is STICKY. I even made Ronnie do a second examination of my blush and she pointed out that the surface of the blush no longer even has the pressed pattern on it. You can totally see where it's been swiped across the surface MULTIPLE TIMES (I think she's got better eyes than mine, i'm practically blind). So yeah, i'm going to go exchange it today and make damn sure that the one they give me today is not used. Ronnie and I are going back to do our pre-pay for this MAC makeup class we're going to take and I'm picking up my pearlglides from the Art Supplies collection. Anyways, here are photos for proof:
Just for clarification, this is only the second time I've opened it. The first was last Saturday at Ronnie's house. I have never tried the blush, never swatched it, etc. I haven't even touched the surface of the actual blush itself.
I know some of you might be like - "why is this even a big deal? who cares?" but let's talk hygiene for a sec.
You use your own makeup daily, yes? Your brushes touch your face , yes? Therefore the only bacteria you're swirling around on your face is your own. You know where you face has been, if it's been washed, where your brushes have been, if they've been washed. But I don't know where the hell this blush has been, which brush was used on whose face and where their face has been with whatever germs.

So lesson learned people - always check your makeup.  Also want to give a shout to the ever so pretty Cydia - yes hun, I'm going to tell them it's highly unacceptable and ask them if they think this is okay. haha!

  7. I've had that happen to me before at MAC Macy's counters. It is absolutely ridiculous. Even if a product is returned without being used, they are supposed to toss it in a return bin and ARE NOT supposed to restock it. Never had an experience to that extent (random gooeyness.. wtf??!) but I've definitely purchased items that were clearly used and swatched. Shame on them. Return and complain your heart out. lol. That is unsanitary and completely unprofessional.

  11. everybody! I returned it. The sales associate was extremely apologetic - she scurried off to get me a new warm soul before I could even go on my little shpiel about how unsanitary and unacceptable it is.

to anonymous, yes i believe some items people purchase from blog sales are used. i personally have never purchased anything from a blog sale but if you know it's been used you are just subjecting yourself to it. i personally don't buy used items.

  12. I just go to the actual store or sephora. But If I'm in those types of the stores, then I will make sure they are not use. Thanks for the tip.
